If you're anything like us, you often come away from your yoga class or workout pretty sweaty and a little beetroot-faced... Once that sweat has subsided though, the post-workout glow is one that exudes youth, health and happiness. Not only are we buzzing with endorphins, but the increased blood flow and movement of muscles does wonders for the skin. Whilst this really is down to the hormones that exercise produces, we've put together a few handy tips to prolong that fresh faced look (without having to go straight back to the gym).
Floral waters are a brilliant place to start. They are wonderfully high in nutrients, and because they derive from steam distillation of plants and flowers, they are high in water content and therefore very gentle. That doesn't mean they don't pack a punch in the nourishment stakes though; some of our favourite floral waters are high in vitamins that'll help your skin hydrate quickly post-workout.
The recipe below is a facial spritz and toner, made up of a blend of floral waters, Orange Blossom and Rose. Orange Blossom is naturally anti-inflammatory so will relieve post-workout redness, whilst also being antibacterial which will help prevent any breakouts caused by the bacteria in sweat. It's also high in vitamin C which will continue to stimulate blood flow underneath the skin, having a brightening effect. Rose water is incredibly moisturising so will quickly rehydrate, and also has great astringent properties which both tightens and firms. The two waters smell glorious together so are also a great body freshener!
Finally, we've added a drop of wonder-ingredient Prickly Pear oil. High in Vitamins A and E this will nourish and soothe skin, but we love it because it has a golden shimmer which is perfect to achieve that bright and fresh glow! Oil and water doesn't mix so you'll need to shake well before use. If you can't get your hands on Prickly Pear oil then Sweet Almond or Argan will also work well!
If you buy your waters pre-preserved, this should last to 3months. Otherwise it'll be a week.
